Time Out New York

A place that’s as hard-wood and high class as we can afford, and with a bar that’s an ode to the luxuries of adulthood. The owners…if they opened a supermarket, we’d shop there. If they opened an apartment building, we’d probably ask to live there.

In the heart of Greenpoint stands Pencil Factory bar, a corner with a timeless New York feel, quality drinks, new neighbors, and old friends.

Founded it in 2001, Pencil Factory bar has been serving up New York charm for over 20 years. Cozy in winter and refreshing in the warmer months with floor to ceiling windows illuminating original wood furnishings, this Brooklyn bar is an idyllic place to sip classic cocktails or robust craft beers while the suns last rays streak across Longshore flooring. In the summer months, the outdoor seating is enjoyed late into the evening.

Pencil Factory bar isn’t just for neighborhood stalwarts looking for the Brooklyn of days gone by. Drop by on Wednesday evenings to see local jazz musicians playing live, or on Thursday nights to enjoy vinyl night DJ’s hosted by Ilegal Mezcal. On Fridays and Saturdays ABBA and Cher are heard as the crowd dances the night away.

If you find yourself in the Pacific Northwest, drop by Daphnes, a tiny 250 square feet, in the seaside town of Edmonds. Or swing by Jack’s Bar in downtown Bellingham, or Southside Bar in historic Fairhaven, for vintage cocktails and an old-school vibe.
